Retro RePost: The Golden Palace - The Golden Girls' Retirement Home

We've been watching the free streaming app Pluto a lot lately. We really enjoy older shows like Murder She Wrote and Supermarket Sweep. When my wife isn't around, I'll watch I Love Lucy (she's not a fan) or The Andy Griffith Show.

Pluto would be the only app I'd need if they added channels dedicated to Seinfeld and The Golden Girls, aired NASCAR races live, and occasionally showed hockey games.  Of course, due to studio contracts, this is probably just wishful thinking.  Paramount/CBS and its affiliates run Pluto, while shows like The Golden Girls and Seinfeld were NBC/Universal shows, so it's unlikely they'll come to an agreement on that app.

Speaking of, did you know that if you have T-Mobile, you can get Netflix for free and watch Seinfeld anytime you'd like?  Also (as of today when I write this), if you have Walmart+, you can get Paramount for free.  I believe Verizon also has a free Disney+ and Hulu/ESPN deal.  That, along with some Black Friday deals and a burner email, you can get a ton of apps for free or dirt cheap.  I strongly encourage everyone to follow the rules and not take advantage, of course.  :)

My daughter likes to pretend she hates The Golden Girls.  She screams sarcastically when she hears the theme song, so my wife likes to tease her by playing the first few minutes of the episode.  Our daughter gets upset that "old people TV" is on, but when she sits still long enough to watch with us, she gets into it and laughs along.

Thankfully, most of the adult humor goes over her head.

The other day, to get her to watch the show with us, I went digging and found an episode of The Golden Palace.  She thought it was "just ok," but I enjoyed watching it again since it's a series I rarely see.

It's Spring Break here in New England this week, so while I take some time away, I hope you, too, get some rest and relaxation with friends and family!  I'll see you next week with our May "YesterYear History" and then some other fun stuff.  Can you believe we're getting into May already?!
