Retro RePost: I Love Lucy and Santa Claus

For those who are unaware, I travel quite a bit for my day job.  I have my personal preference in hotels, but the company I work for books them for me, so I don't really have much say in where I sleep.  Lately, we've been staying at more mid-level Marriott properties, and at first, I was disappointed with the switch away from the various Hilton brands.  However, I soon realized that Marriott had a "streaming" option on their television's home page, and a whole new world opened up.

A few of these hotels only provide a link to YouTube on their "Streaming Page," which makes me wonder who would rather watch videos on TV with slow internet speeds instead of their own device, but to each their own, I suppose.

However, more and more hotel televisions are including a link to Pluto TV.  If you're not familiar with Pluto TV, as a fellow nostalgia lover, you should definitely acquaint yourself with it.

Pluto has a plethora of movies and television shows, and is set up like hundreds of 24-hour marathon television networks.  Each "channel" is dedicated to one series or a very niche topic or genre, and there's only one channel I always turn to:  the I Love Lucy channel.

The channel runs continuously in chronological order, and I'll even leave it on all night long so that when I wake up in the wee hours of the morning for my next day of work, it will still be on.  I like to see how far the episode timeline has progressed.  At home, I'll be able to catch my favorite episodes from California in a day or two if I missed them!

By now, you're probably wondering what any of this has to do with Christmas.

I can hear you now.  "Jeff," you say, "I thought it was Christmas time at YesterYear?"

Well, it is.

But on this Friday Retro RePost, I was thinking about what to dig up from my past articles to help get you into the Christmas spirit.  With myself spending so much time watching I Love Lucy in hotel rooms lately, I thought, why not bring attention to this oldie-but-goodie from 2019?

About 10 or 12 years ago, it became a tradition on CBS to "colorize" a different episode of I Love Lucy as part of their Christmas package, starting with the I Love Lucy Christmas Special episode.  In 2020, the network abandoned the practice of colorizing episodes, and I don't think they have even aired a Lucy episode since then.  You can find these episodes on Paramount Plus if you're so inclined!
