Can you believe we're already almost through January? Any promise to myself to cut back on writing this year and relax a little more without any silly self-imposed deadlines went out the window! Already, I've posted three new articles this year and brainstormed a bunch of ideas and thoughts for the rest of the year!
Oh well, "rest when you're dead," they say.
Except this week. I'm taking a siesta.
This week, I wanted to call attention to one of my first articles, and one that I've always been fond of. It's a jingle that's been stuck in my head since the early 90s (that's a loooooooooong time!) and one that anyone outside of the New York tri-state area likely has never heard of.
Although commercials like this and the whole idea of a Pocono resort have been spoofed countless times on global shows like Saturday Night Live, this one is still somewhat "local" knowledge.
See you next week!

Stop slacking, Jeff! (just joking - you deserve a break)
ReplyDeleteAlso, you are correct. I don’t know that commercial at all.
Ok, I finished reading the original article… wth, Jeff.
ReplyDeleteI clicked on the video first to see what this jingle thing was, then later went back to read the actual article. At first I was like, “this sounds cool, maybe the wife and I can go check this place out sometime in the (distant) future if we can save up enough to afford it (yeah, right…)”
I soon saw all the past-tense wording and figured it might now be around anymore, but then I got to the end of the article and was like… wth, Jeff!
I know it isn’t your fault - that’s just what happened. But I did not see that coming at all. I go from trying to see if I recognized the song, to thinking how great (and cheap… even with inflation) that place sounds, to thinking maybe I could go there some day, to sadly realizing that’s not going to happen, to… WTH, JEFF!!!
And then the article abruptly ends (just like this post). =P
