I've always said that people who put stuff online are saints.  You can Google or YouTube almost anything, and there's a "how-to" or historical documentation there in full detail.  The people who take the time to do all that are God-sent, especially if you have been desperately looking for something for weeks, and then BAM!  There it is in full detail or an easy 1-2-3 guide.

I started this blog to write about things I enjoyed or remembered from my youth.  I hoped to combine several bits of information from various sources and make one solid article where EVERYTHING is in ONE place.  Sure, it makes some really long articles sometimes, but I hope you can easily find what you need in a one-stop-shop type right here at YesterYear Retro.

I don't consider myself a "saint" for writing here, like those who post "how-to" videos on YouTube, but I hope that, in some way, my articles can help you find that long-lost memory you've been looking for.

One of the biggest topics I wanted to cover right out of the gate was Nick-At-Nite's Block Party Summer.  It was such a big deal to me as a kid, and nobody had assembled an exhaustive history and guide.  Up to that point, it required the most research I'd done since college and several weeks of putting it all together, but when it was completed, I was shocked that my little website was the number one search in Google for Nick-At-Nite's Block Party Summer.

It's since fallen a few pegs down from "first" as the "newness" of my article has worn off and been replaced by Instagram and TikTok posts.  Still, I'm just delighted to be one of the top articles people see looking for their favorite summer marathon!

This article represented so many summers from my childhood and so many hours of great classic television.  Television that I spent watching with Dad, as we laughed into the night so hard, as I often say, that Granny could hear us next door!
