Thirty-five years ago, in April 1991, a groundbreaking sitcom debuted on ABC's TGIF lineup. I remember it like it was yesterday. My entire family sat down together to watch this new series that introduced the world to the Sinclair family.
Created by Michael Jacobs (Boy Meets World, among others) this sitcom was brought to life through the innovative puppetry and animatronics of Jim Henson Productions (this being one of the final projects overseen by the legendary puppeteer before his passing). Dinosaurs blended sharp family comedy with biting social satire, tackling everything from corporate greed and environmental neglect to teenage rebellion and workplace woes. Of course, there were also the signature catchphrases required of all '90s sitcoms, too. In this case, it was Baby Sinclair declaring "NOT THE MAMA!"
Now, as the show marks its 35th anniversary, for today's Retro RePost, I ask you to revisit this cult classic series. You can CLICK HERE to read all about ABC's The Dinosaurs, an article I wrote two years ago as the show celebrated the 30th anniversary of the final episode.
